Avro Museum Membership
Membership fees are a way of supporting the Avro Museum’s efforts to preserve the history of A. V. Roe Canada Ltd, its employees, aeronautical engineers and advances in aviation which took place during the 1950’s.
Through different membership categories various benefits accrue to the members, the ultimate benefit being a complimentary flight in the Arrow II once the aircraft is completed, certified and ready for flights.
The membership categories are shown below followed by an explanation as to how individuals may upgrade their memberships to the next higher level.

Upgrading Memberships
5 Year Membership to Lifetime Membership:
A 5 year member may up-grade to a Lifetime Membership within two years of obtaining the 5 year membership by paying the difference between the five year fee and the lifetime fee as it exists at the time of the upgrade request.
Lifetime Membership Fee Changes:
The Lifetime Membership fee may be changed at the discretion of the Board of Directors as we make progress on the construction of the Arrow II. At certain stages as we move towards the completed aircraft, the lifetime fee may rise when the aircraft is on its undercarriage, again when the engines and avionics are installed and finally when engine run-up and taxi trials start.
This could cause some perceived differential in the benefits being attributed to Lifetime Memberships that have paid a different fee when it comes to the transition to Platinum Memberships (who may receive a complimentary flight in the Arrow II). The Avro Museum has addressed this situation as follows:
Currently, if there were to be no change in the Lifetime Membership fee, the $500 paid would be applied against the Platinum Membership fee in the future. However, as the lifetime membership fee rises to, for example, $1,000, that fee will also be applied against the Platinum Membership fee. In order to be fair to those Lifetime Memberships who have been involved with the Avro museum for a longer time and paid a lower Lifetime Membership fee, each time the Lifetime Membership fee rises, the older $500 members will also receive the same credit against the Platinum Membership of $1,000. Should the Lifetime Membership fee rise again at a later stage, all previous Lifetime Members (in this example those who had already paid $500 or $1,000) will also gain the benefit of having the full credit applied against the Platinum Membership fee.
If a Lifetime Member, for whatever reason whether it be age, infirmity, medical reasons, etc. is at a point such that they will not be able to take advantage of the benefits accruing to that membership – the main one being the offset of a significant amount against a flight in the Arrow II - that Lifetime Member will be able to assign his or her benefit to a family member (partner, children or grandchildren) on a one time basis only.
