The A.V. Roe Canada story is preserved here through text records and image collections. It is hoped that this effort suitably acknowledges the effort of those Canadians who designed, built and flew Canada's  Jetliner, Canuck and Arrow.

The Avro Jetliner, for which all passenger jets are named, was the first passenger jet to fly in North America by some ten years. It was a significant achievement in that it doubled the altitude and tripled the speed of transport aircraft of the day. Canada's lead was lost when the Canadian Government of the day refused to let Avro put the aircraft into production, a decision that led to the prototype aircraft being destroyed.

The Avro Canuck was the only Canadian designed fighter aircraft to go into service with the Royal Canadian Air Force and Nato.  As with all fighter aircraft, it eventually fell victim to new technological advances and was decommissioned in 1962.

The Avro Arrow interceptor , designed to intercept enemy bombers over the Canadian arctic during the Cold War was aclaimed a significant achievement in super sonic flight. The Arrow was ultimately cancelled in development by the Canadian Government who came to believe manned interceptors were obsolete in the age of missiles, and ordered all evidence of it destroyed.

The fact that only a few pieces of the Jetliner and Arrow remain to mark Canadian achievement is what makes preserving this portion of Canadian aviation history so important.

The Avro Museum's Archive Project group is cataloging and digitizing all things Avro to create an online library accessible to the public.  If you have any items, documents, drawings or even newspaper clippings or employee information related to Avro Canada, the CF-105 Arrow, or any other Avro Canada aircraft or product or Orenda engines that you are willing to donate to the cause, please email us with a description of items along with your contact information to info@avromuseum.com with the Subject: Archive.  We will get back to you shortly.

If you have spare time, consider volunteering to assist the Archive Group. There is an amazing amount of Avro-related information on the internet to be uncovered.  You can work from home and on your own schedule to help us find that information. We will help you get started and point you at places to look. If you would like to help and be part of our project, please email us at info@avromuseum.com with the Subject: Volunteer. Be sure to include your contact information so we can get back to you to discuss the work in more detail.
